Stop the atrocities

Dear Editor,

As I sit here having my lunch and having listened to the TV news and read your newspaper, I read and hear of all the atrocities mankind has inflicted on mankind, such as murder, drugs, corrupt politicians and judges, pedophiles, first responders and organized religion.

As a 77-year-old man, I survived the Nazis, the fascists and communists as a child and witnessed the torture and death of my fellow villagers in our little village in the mountains of Greece.

At the age of 12, as a wounded survivor, I was exiled to America to heal and to get an education. But I endured worse treatment in this country from Dec. 8, 1950, when I landed at Idlewild airport, legally. I received worse treatment at the hands of the “good ol’ boys” in the good ol’ USA, that is from the White House to the outhouse. In the 65 years I’ve lived here, I have lived an honorable and productive life.

Before I turned 18, I brought my mother, father, two sisters and brothers here. I served in the military (honorably) at age 18 and became a U.S. citizen at age 21.

The corruption and mistreatment has destroyed my life and that of my wife and children. Any knowledgeable, semi-intelligent person that sees the fires of war and the atrocities throughout the world realizes that they were started by corrupt politicians, big business and our war machines. And caused our young men and women to be sent into harm’s way; some paying the ultimate price. The war machine has caused untold suffering to humanity throughout the world. People aren’t interested in having a Walmart, McDonald’s or dollar store in their town, they just want to tend to their flocks and fields, raise their families, go about their lives and pray as they wish.

Our founding fathers never intended to colonize other peoples or countries; they had a dream and a purpose to create a better country for all.

My fellow Americans, listen to the words of the song “American Woman” by the Guess Who: “I don’t need your war machines, I don’t need your ghetto scenes, colored lights can hypnotize, sparkle someone else’s eyes.”

Let’s stop putting labels on people, they’re for tin cans. As for me, I say stop the world, I want to get off, ’cause the lunatics have taken over the asylum.
