Shenandoah driver facing DUI charges
State police at the Frackville barracks said a Shenandoah Heights driver was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence and other charges after a one-vehicle crash at 8:38 a.m. Thursday on Route 61 in New Castle Township.
Police said Jacob Walsh, 20, displayed signs of being under the influence of alcohol and/or a controlled substance after the crash.
Police said he was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo southbound and was traveling too fast for wet roadway conditions when he lost control of the vehicle. It spun into the guide rails on the east shoulder and caused significant damage to the front and back sections of the car.
Police said DUI charges are expected to be filed against Walsh in the office of Magisterial District Judge David Plachko, upon the receipt of blood test results. He is also facing charges of failure to drive at a safe speed and other driving violations, and a driver's license infraction.
