Two injured in Carbon crash
Two drivers involved in a crash at 5:15 p.m. Friday in Carbon County were injured and taken to an area hospital. State police at Fern Ridge said the crash occurred at the intersection of Route 903 and Interstate 476 (turnpike), in Penn Forest Township.
Troopers said John M. Karnish, 53, of Nesquehoning, was southbound driving a 2011 Dodge Caliber and proceeded to make a left turn to go onto I-476 southbound and failed to yield to a northbound 1997 Ford Crown Victoria operated by Elizabeth Olney, 58, of Albrightsville, and a collision occurred. Both drivers were transported to the Lehighton hospital by the Lehighton EMS unit. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
Troopers said Karnish was cited in the incident. Assisting troopers at the scene were volunteers from the Penn Forest Township Fire Company and fire police.
