Driver leaves scene of Schuylkill crash

Dean Strohecker Jr., 51, of Port Carbon, has been arrested by state police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks as a result of a crash at 11 p.m. Dec. 9 on Pottsville Street in Mechanicsville.

Police said he was driving a 2001 Dodge Dakota west when he failed to negotiate a right curve in the road. The truck left the roadway and traveled about 20 feet down an embankment, striking a tree. Police said after the impact, Strohecker exited the truck, unloaded an ATV that was in the open bed area of the vehicle and fled the scene on the vehicle.

He has been charged with hit-and-run.
