Protect our country
Protect our country
Editor,
As I read your opinion page of Dec. 8 about the comments of Donald Trump to ban Muslims from the U.S., I question these aspiring presidential wannabes and political hacks and suggest they get a dictionary, a Bible and a history book. Societies greater than the U.S. vanished, such as the Roman, Ottoman, Hitler, etc. Because the people eventually took them out of action.
I consider myself an expert on history, and having been an immigrant and dealt with the immigration process, I agree with Trump on his view of immigration against the Muslims and against anyone wishing to enter our country. Our president and elected officials have taken an oath to protect and defend our country but seemed to have broken that oath.
Everyone entering this country must go through a process and be screened to determine their intentions. They must register and report every year in January at the local post office where they live, and if their visa has expired they should be deported. Anyone trying to enter without proper documentation should be immediately returned to their country of origin at the expense of the company that transported them here. Many of these measures were in place years ago but have been abandoned. At present there are 30 million to 40 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. that drain our financial resources with their demands for all types of assistance and demand that Spanish be our second language.
The politicians have done many reprehensible acts to promote and glorify and enhance their positions. Trump’s comments are against ILLEGAL immigrants and undocumented refugees trying to enter this country. We need to demand verification and accountability of all wanting to enter the U.S.
Obama and the warlords declare war on anyone who doesn’t agree with them and invade and bomb for no other reason than to cover their own misdeeds.
Through out history wars have been fought because of religious beliefs and political ideology. Has anything really changed in the 2000 years since Jesus Christ came to earth? We still have corrupt politicians, warmongers, sickos and outright bully goons.
Then we have Hillary Clinton and John Kerry stating that the rest of the world needs our democracy, whether they want it or not! Makes you want to run out to buy more duct tape and plastic wrap.
Our political leaders and our religious leaders should take a serious look at their conduct and put a stop to atrocities done in the name of religion and false political ideologies.
Trump is right when he states that we should verify, document and track all immigrants seeking refuge in the U.S. This is for our preservation and safety.
I am an old man and in my lifetime I’ve encountered just about every nationality and religion, and on occasion, besides serving them in the business world, I’ve had the opportunity to break bread with them and socialize with them in my home. I must tell you, no one threatened me or stole my silverware!
Yours Truly,
Mr. Anastasios Kalomiris
