Band Parents
The monthly meeting of the Pleasant Valley Band Parents will be at 7 p.m. Thursday in the high school in Brodheadsville.
OES meets
Monroe Chapter 99 Eastern Star will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Masonic Lodge on Rimrock Drive.
Keep Sunday Holy
The ecumenical group, Keep Sunday Holy, which is a group of local churches that treasure Sunday mornings for family spiritual growth, will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday in the cafe at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church.

School board
The Pleasant Valley School Board will meet at 8 p.m. Thursday in the Administrative Building in the Brodheadsville school complex.
Senior luncheon
The menu for the Chestnuthill Seniors group, meeting at Zion Lutheran Church in the Fellowship Hall, on Friday is hot roast beef sandwich. Next Wednesday it is stuffed shells.
If the schools are closed due to inclement weather, the Senior Center will be closed as well.
Those planning to eat at the center are asked to call the site manager at 570-242-6770 by 11 a.m. the day before.
Pocono Pandas
The youth group at Effort UMC, Pocono Pandas, will be headed to a retreat at Pocono Plateau scheduled for Friday through Sunday. Those who have registered are encouraged to contact Pastor Ken or Wendy for time of departure and what to bring.
For those not attending the retreat and the Cubbies, there will be a youth meeting at 7 p.m. Friday.
Breakfast served
McMichaels UMC on White Church Road will hold its next breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday. There is no set fee. It is by donation only. The church is handicap accessible.
Food pantry open
The Supplemental Food Resource Center of Effort UMC will be open from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday. It is a ministry of the church to help feed those in need in the West End, including Effort, Gilbert, Kunkletown, Kresgeville, Brodheadsville, Saylorsburg, Sciota and Albrightsville
The purpose is to help feed families going through emergency or other short-term situations who are not eligible for local, county or state programs and is limited to a 12-week lifetime duration per family. A valid driver's license or state ID with address proving residency in the West End is required.
Rescheduled event
Due to last weekend's weather prediction, the Jan. 3 meet and greet by the Pocono Greyhound group was postponed. Pocono Greyhound Adoption will now be holding a meet and greet at Tractor Supply Co., Route 209, Brodheadsville, from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Winter wandering
As part of the statewide Get Outdoors PA program, West End Park and Open Space Commission will be hosting a Winter Wander at the West End Regional Park on at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Local naturalist and Pocono Heritage Land Trust Board member Don Miller will be leading the leisure wander on the new trails at the Regional Park. Included is both on/off trail and moderate terrain. Families are welcome. It will be held rain or shine. Participants are asked to dress to be outdoors for several hours.
Guest speaker
Pleasant Valley Presbyterian Church in Brodheadsville will welcome the Rev. Jennifer Nichols at Sunday's worship service, beginning at 10:15 a.m.
Legion calendar
The West End Memorial Post Home in Gilbert has various groups meeting there. On Sunday the 927 Riders are slated to meet at 10:30 a.m. and the S.A.L. meets at 6:30 p.m.
The Auxiliary will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, and the Korean War Vets gather at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Pleasant Valley's All Sports Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the high school library.
Knit and crochet
Zion Lutheran's Knit & Crochet group will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Parish Hall.
Blood drive
Miller Keystone blood drives are held every Wednesday from noon to 6 p.m. at the Western Pocono Community Library in Brodheadsville.

St. Nick results
Effort UMC reports that the annual St. Nick project, coordinated by Don and Linda Ernst of McMichaels, brightened the lives of 26 families and 129 people who received Christmas gifts from St. Nick this year.
PVMS PTO meets
The Pleasant Valley Middle School PTO will meet at 9 a.m. Jan 14 at the middle school in Brodheadsville.
WEPOSC meets
The Friends of WEPOSC and the West End Park and Open Space Commission will meet back to back next Wednesday at 6 and 7 p.m., respectively, at the Chestnuthill Township Park in Brodheadsville.
WE Little League
Sign-ups for the 2015 West End Little League will be held for all WELL divisions from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 14 at the high school's new auditorium, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 17, at the PVHS old auditorium.
West End Little League is open to boys an girls ages 4-16 who live in the Pleasant Valley School District: Ross, Polk, Chestnuthill and Eldred townships.
New and returning players are required to submit copies of proof of age and residency at time of registration. Families are asked to bring copies for each player's files.
Age documents include birth certificate, passport or military documents. Three residency documents are required and must include the actual street address (no P.O. box or RR).

Bus trip
West End Park and Open Space Commission is sponsoring a bus trip to the Philadelphia Flower Show on March 2, which leaves at 6:15 a.m. and returns at 7 p.m. at the Chestnuthill Park, 221 Route 715 in Brodheadsville.
