Focus on values

Published January 10. 2015 09:00AM

Dear Editor,

I'd like to add my two cents to all the political debating going on.

I hold to conservative and Christian values, not to any particular political party. To support the Republican Party only because it is different from the Democratic Party is like choosing the lesser evil in these present tumultuous times.

I would very much like to see the Republican Party take on a platform of traditional Judeo-Christian conservative values. And in such a way that it would overcome the present slide to mindless socialism. Values such as honesty, integrity, personal responsibility for one's (and the nation's) life.

Trusting in God rather than government. Doing away with government programs that have created generations of entitlement and dependency and laziness among people. Doing away with the whole of the "political correctness" attitude, which has a devastating effect on the morality of the American people. Trusting in a strong and up-to-date military; fighting war like wars, not political chess games. Becoming fiscally responsible by cutting ALL unnecessary programs and deleting the national debt.

Wait a minute! Isn't what I just described the values of the tea party movement? What's wrong with that? If the Republican Party would adopt traditional, conservative, Christian tea party values it may get my vote.

Sincerely,

Scotty Morrison
