Kitchen hacks from Food.com

Published February 04. 2015 04:00PM

Go to Food.com for tip videos to keep food fresh and craft better sauces, soups and dressing. Here's a sampling:

• Have old, hard lemons or limes leftover in the kitchen? Microwave them for 15 seconds and they will juice like new!

• To prevent onions from turning brown quickly, store them in pantyhose by placing them in each leg and tying a knot between every new onion. Hang them in a dark, dry place for up to 6 months. Snip off an onion as needed!

• Dried out brown sugar can be softened by being microwaved for 10 seconds. To prevent crusty brown sugar in the future, store it with a marshmallow.

• Bring your old loaf of French bread back to life by sprinkling it with water, wrapping it in foil, and baking it for 5 minutes at 400 degrees.
