Senior citizens

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens group has changed its meeting location. Instead of traveling to Hometown every week, the group will now meet at the Tamaqua YMCA, 1201 E. Broad St.

The Jan. 22 meeting was attended by 61 members, with President Melody Weicker conducting the business session. A moment of silence was held in memory of Betty Murphy. One guest, Jean McArdle, was welcomed.

Jacque Patrick provided an inspirational reading, "A New Year's Prayer." Reports were offered by the secretary and treasurer.

Vivian Hill was added to the sick list.

The meeting concluded with refreshments, cards and social games.

The seniors meet at 1 p.m. every Thursday. Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join. The YMCA is handicap accessible.
