Lenten Devotions

Lenten Devotions will take place at The Shrine of St. Therese Lisieux, St. Francis of Assisi Parish, located at Angelini and Garibaldi avenues, at 6 p.m. every Wednesday during Lent, beginning Wednesday and ending April 1.

Devotion includes Stations of the Cross, Novena Prayers to St. Therese of Lisieux, and Benediction.

Historical Society

The next meeting of the Nesquehoning Historical Society will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Maple Shade Meadows Senior Living, 50 E. Locust St. in Nesquehoning.

Everyone is invited and there is never any cost to attend.

Bob Kuzma will be the special guest speaker for the evening. Kuzma has worked for the Kovatch Mobile Equipment Corporation for the last 45 years. KME specializes in customized trucks for fire, rescue and police operations.

Kuzma will be sharing his memories of the changes that have occurred over the years as KME has grown. In 1971 KME had only nine employees working in two small bays, but today there are over 700 employees.

The society will also be reviewing bylaws and will be collecting 2015 annual dues, which are $5.

Lansford

Public library March happenings

The Preschool Story Hour will begin again on March 3 with a birthday celebration for Dr. Seuss.

Story hour will be held every Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.

Tax preparation assistance for seniors is offered on Wednesdays from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

Seniors must call the library to schedule an appointment.

The Polish Heritage Discussion group will meet on March 11 and March 25 at 11 a.m.

Baker registration forms for the Cupcake War to be held on May 16 are now available at the library or the Heritage Center in Summit Hill.

The Panther Valley Public Library is located at 117 E. Bertsch St. in Lansford.

Golden Agers

The Meeting of the Panther Valley Golden Agers scheduled for Monday is canceled.

The next scheduled meeting will be March 9.

Hospitality for the months of March and April are Mary Ann Maynard and Diane Gould.
