Soup social
Monthly soup socials are being held at Trinity United Church of Christ, 22 Lafayette St. The next outreach social will be held from 4-6 p.m. Saturday. The event is part of Trinity's monthly "Feeding the Hungry" program.
The public is welcome to attend and share in the free soup, friendship and God's love. Those attending are reminded to use the lower parking lot entrance into Founder's Hall.
Adult Day Care
The Tamaqua Area Adult Day Care Center has a variety of activities planned for April, including a special visit from St. Jerome's kindergarten class on April 24.
Other activities for the month include: April 10, singalong with Audrey Christ; April 15, Salvation Army service; April 17, foot doctor visit; April 20, baking class; April 22, bingo; April 29, kite craft day.
In addition to weekly singalongs, exercise sessions, a variety of therapies and social games, the center provides for hairstyling service, which requires advance notice. Breakfast, lunch and a snack are served daily.
Anyone interested in obtaining more information about the center or services provided may call 570-668-6577 or visit Monday through Friday, between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Zion Lewistown
Pastor Jim Williams will officiate at the Easter Sunday service at 10:30 a.m. in Zion Church in the Lewistown Valley. The service will include Holy Communion. Sunday school classes will be held at 9:15 a.m.
An Easter sunrise service will be celebrated at 6:30 a.m. at the Lewistown Tabernacle on Valley Road.
On April 9, OWLS will meet at 11 a.m. and the guild will meet at 7 p.m.
St. John UCC
The Rev. Kevin Duffy Guy will officiate at the 6 and 9:30 a.m. worship services this Easter Sunday in St. John United Church of Christ. Both services will include Holy Communion. Special anthems will be presented by the senior and bell choirs during the later service.
St. Peter's Union
Easter Sunday worship services will be held at 6:30 and 9 a.m. in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville. Both services will include Holy Communion. The church board will be providing breakfast between services. Sunday school will meet at 10:15 a.m.
Activities for next week include: Tuesday, prayer group meets at 5 p.m.; Wednesday, retirees meet at 10 a.m.; Thursday, worship and music committee meets at 6 p.m., cherub choir rehearses at 6:30 p.m., junior choir practice at 7 p.m., senior choir meets at 7:30 p.m.
St. John Lutheran
The Rev. Phyllis Wolford will officiate at the 9:15 a.m. worship service this Easter Sunday in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. The service will include Holy Communion.
Activities for next week include: Tuesday, worship and music committee meets at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, angel choir rehearses at 6 p.m., shepherd choir meets at 6:30 p.m., chancel choir practices at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday and Monday, set up for the rummage sale, which will be held April 14 and 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
