Man robbed on Schuylkill street

A Schuylkill County man reported he was assaulted and robbed on a street in his hometown.

State police at Frackville said the incident occurred at 2:15 a.m. Wednesday in the area of 252 W. Main St., in Girardville.

Troopers said George Mitchell, 33, of that address, told troopers he was walking home from the Nowhere Bar when he was confronted by three white males he knew. During the course of the interaction Mitchell was punched and kicked by the three males in front of his home.

Mitchell said the three males took a small amount of cash from him as well as his Xanax prescription. After calling 911, Mitchell was taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street, Pottsville, by the Ashland ambulance, for treatment of injuries.

The investigation into the incident is continuing.
