Schuylkill man jailed for assault

A Schuylkill County man was jailed on Friday for assault following a domestic incident.

State police at Frackville said Jason M. Schmidt, 37, of Zion Grove, North Union Township, was arrested following an incident that occurred at his residence between 4:25 and 4:40 p.m.

Troopers said Schmidt and a 28-year-old female who resides with him, got into an altercation which turned physical which caused injuries to the female.

Schmidt was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment via video at the county prison in Pottsville, by on-call District Judge James Reiley. He was unable to post $20,000 straight cash bail set by the judge.

Troopers noted Schmidt was already out on bail from a separate incident which involved the same victim and same criminal charges.
