Albrightsville man cited in Tamaqua

Published May 30. 2015 09:00AM

An Albrightsville man was given two citations by Tamaqua police on May 23.

Officers were dispatched to the Pitt and Lafayette street area at 8:25 p.m. to deal with a male causing a disturbance.

On scene the officer saw a male sitting in a parked gray SUV with the engine running. He then spoke with a witness inside the Two Corners Bar.

The witness said a heavyset bald male entered the bar and ordered a beer. After he was served he began getting loud and obnoxious, using racial slurs and banging his fists on the bar.

The bartender removed the beer and ordered the man to leave.

He refused until she called police, then went outside and sat in the SUV.

The officer went back outside and spoke to the male, who was identified as Nicholas G. McKelvey, 54. McKelvey's speech was slurred and a bottle of New Amsterdam vodka, with a small amount in it, was resting on the center console.

He was arrested and transported back to the station after the SUV was secured.

He was given citations for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.
