911 call leads to DUI drug arrest

A 911 call has led to the DUI drug arrest of a Carbon County woman.

Mahoning Township Police Department said that at 12:40 p.m. Feb. 8, police received a 911 call reporting an erratic driver.

The vehicle was traveling from Jim Thorpe toward Lehighton on Route 209.

The caller said the car was all over the road, and it had almost hit other vehicles.

The caller also took a video of the vehicle while it was swerving, and turned the video over to police.

Franklin Township Police were the first to locate the car.

The driver, Deborah Sylvester, 50, of Jim Thorpe, was found in possession of alprazolam, as well as hydrocodone/acetaminophen.

A blood test showed the presence alprazolam, dihydrocodeine, hydrocodone and hydromorphone.

Sylvester has been charged with two counts of DUI, a misdemeanor; unlawful possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor; careless driving, a summary offense; and driving on roadways laned for traffic, a summary offense.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for July 1.
