Monroe man sought for assault

A Monroe County man is being sought on a simple assault count.

State police at Fern Ridge said Brian Robert Mathious, of Effort, is charged for an incident on May 29 at 12:30 p.m. on Lawrence Drive in Chestnuthill Township.

Troopers allege he struck his 18-year-old ex-girlfriend several times after they were engaged in a verbal dispute.

The woman ran to a nearby residence and called troopers. Mathious fled the scene in a gray Subaru Impreza before troopers arrived.

She was treated for injuries at the scene by West End ambulance personnel.
