Quick tips for the kitchen
Here are some recent tips from @Fooddotcom to help you in the kitchen:
• Sauce too thin? Mix in a cornstarch slurry: For every cup of sauce, mix 1 tablespoon cornstarch with 1 tablespoon water, stir into sauce to thicken.
• Like white wine to stay ice cold, but not all watered down? Freeze green grapes and pop a few in your glass instead of ice.
• Like shrimp? Stop overcooking it. Slightly curved = undercooked, curled into a C = perfect, twisted O-shape = overcooked.
• Peel garlic like a chef. Whack cloves on side with a knife. Peel comes right off and you're halfway to minced garlic.
• Is your microwave dirty with baked on bits? Zap a bowl of water with lemon for one minute and then easily wipe it all off.
