Blood drive

Mass offered
Our Lady Queen of Peace Church will offer Mass at 9 a.m. on the Fourth of July. The church office, however, will be closed for the holiday.
Adoption Day
Tractor Supply, Route 209 in Brodheadsville will host an adoption day on Sunday for the dogs Boomer's Angels has available. It will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Boomer's Angels Rescue & Care is a new group in northeast Pennsylvania that rescues and re-homes dogs, cats, bunnies and other animals.

Sunday supper
Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Gilbert will hold a Community Sunday Supper from 3 to 4 p.m. on Sunday. West End Missions serves a meal at the church from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday.
Blood pressure screening
A free screening for blood pressure will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., July 9 at the Chestnuthill Senior Center in Brodheadsville. At 11 a.m., a special program: A Bolt from the Sky Lightening Awareness will be presented.
Knit & Crochet
Zion Lutheran's Knit & Crochet group will meet at 1 p.m., Tuesday.
Lioness calendar
The next board meeting of the Western Pocono Lions Club is at noon on July 9 at Cherry's Family Restaurant. All members are welcome.
The next members' meeting is 6 p.m. July 22 at the American Legion Post Home in Gilbert. Amy Leiser, from the Monroe County Historical Society, will be the speaker that evening.

Bake off
Our Lady Queen of Peace has announced its Second Annual Bake Off for members 16 years of age and older for July 13. Drew Hoffman will be back to defend his title. Bakers younger than 16 will have a cupcake war.
Entries will be judged on taste, originality and creativity.

Grief support
The Grief Share Support Group at Effort UMC is offering a 13-week program to starting Sept. 14. Meetings will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoons in the church counseling room. The group sessions are approximately 90 minutes long.
Co-facilitators of the groups are Ann Sanders and Jan Decker. Anyone interested in attending should contact the church office no later than Sept. 5.
