Be sure to check prescriptions

Published July 26. 2014 09:00AM

Dear Editor,

On July 8, I called in two prescriptions to a chain pharmacy. The next day, I picked them up.

No, I did not check the individual bags before leaving the store.

At home, I found one prescription to be incorrect. It was a drug my husband no longer uses. I called the store, but was told I was liable for the $32 since I left the store without checking, and the drug I ordered was not ready yet. Had that refill been ready, I would have known something was wrong: three instead of two.

No one could explain how the incorrect drug was ordered, as I certainly didn't.

My suggestion to all customers: Open each prescription bag while you're at the pickup desk. Better to be safe than liable.
