Palmerton couple wed 60 years

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rodgers Sr. recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They were married on July 24, 1954.

Mrs. Rodgers is the former Marion Henning, daughter of the late Violet and Russell Henning of Palmerton.

Her husband is the son of the late Eva and Russell Binkly of Quakertown and Kenneth and Helen Rodgers of Lehighton.

They have five children: Ginger Rodgers of Palmerton; Beverly Smale of Palmerton; Charles Jr. of Palmerton; Bonnie, wife of Timmy Payonk of Palmerton; and Donna, wife of Mark Bollinger of Kunkletown.

They have eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Charles is an avid hunter and enjoys raising pheasants. Marion enjoys fishing, baking, sewing and spending time with her family.

The couple celebrated their special day in the Poconos with their family.
