Note to Lehighton taxpayers

On Monday, Aug. 11, 2014, the Lehighton School Board President Gloria Bowman and Superintendent Jonathan Cleaver used methods you would see in a communist state to silence Carbon County Independent Gazette contributor Dave Bradley and others who oppose their plan to take away our homes for nonpayment of school taxes.

Our school district is made up of 70 percent senior citizens who would lose their homes if this plan is approved to build a new elementary center instead of fixing up the schools we now have on a priority basis.

All northeastern PA school districts are in financial trouble, yet we have this highest-paid superintendent and business manager.

Mr. Cleaver has no experience as a superintendent and does not live in this school district, therefore his taxes would not go up. The school board continues to tell us the cost to build new and the cost to repair is the same, this is a lie.

Taxpayers of the Lehighton school district, please attend school board meetings. We need your support.
