The beggars and other topics

Dear Editor,

A man in Tamaqua asked me for 40 cents before I went into the pharmacy. I was really shocked. He didn't ask me for a job. He asked me for money. "Give them a hand up and not a handout." Don't give beggars money because they might be on drugs. Donate to the rescue mission. There are homeless people in Tamaqua but no homeless shelter around here.

A woman in a different part of America has to beg for food! Some people want to make begging illegal. They want people to starve and die. They don't care about people. The community doesn't care.

There aren't any good jobs for people in this part of the world. My grandfather lost his coal mining job in 1950. My father had to drive all the way to New Jersey for his job!

Local people can work on projects or volunteer. There aren't any quality jobs for them here. "No prospects, just projects." Poor people help other disadvantaged people.

They are still taxing poor people too much. Help!

They don't pay certain people enough money to live off of and then they take deductions out of their paychecks.
