American handmade wares at U.S. history hub

CRAFT PHILA: Liberty Bell is holding its first fall show from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. The outdoor juried art fair is staged adjacent to the Liberty Bell Pavilion and Independence Mall.

Seventy-six independent artists will offer signed goods in a broad range of prices, including handcrafted jewelry, accessories, and wearables along with decorative and functional wares in a spectrum of contemporary styles.

Craft specialties include ceramics, wood, glass, metal, fiber & leather, mixed-media, upcycled & recycled, soaps and candles. Featured in the visual art category are photography, prints, and graphic art.

Season opening gala

Piano soloist Garrick Ohlsson will join the Allentown Symphony Orchestra at 8 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday when he performs Rachmaninoff.

Diane Wittry conducts the symphony, which will also perform work by Borodin and Shostakovich.

A free opportunity to meet Ohlson, who will demonstrate his technique and participate in a discussion with Wittry will take place at noon at Miller Symphony Hall, 23 N. Sixth St., Allentown.

Audience members are invited to bring a brown bag lunch and eat on stage. The event ends promptly at 1 p.m.

No reservations for the Meet the Artist event are necessary.

Sabrina Carpenter coming to Quakertown

Sabrina Carpenter, star of Disney Channel comedy series "Girl Meets World," will be available for interviews and photos at the Kohl's store in her hometown of Quakertown from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Carpenter will talk about what inspires her style and share the inside scoop on her journey from Quakertown to Hollywood. She will also be available to meet fans and sign autographs.

Kohl's is located at 200 NW End Blvd. in Quakertown.
