Halloween parade

Registration forms are now available for the annual Tamaqua Halloween Parade, which is set for Oct. 28, beginning at 7 p.m. Forms are available at the Tamaqua Chamber of Commerce Office, 114 W. Broad St.

Completed forms must include the name, address and phone number of a contact person, as well as the entrant's theme, number of floats, vehicles and marchers.

All participants will be called in advance of the parade with their position, set up location and entry number. The rain date is Oct. 29.

There is no entry fee. Cash prizes will be awarded for the top entries as determined by a panel of judges.

The parade will be sponsored by the Tamaqua Lions Club, with assistance from the Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce. Participants will assemble at the east end of the borough by 6:45 p.m. and the line of march will then head west on Broad Street.

Owl Creek hayrides

The Owl Creek Reservoir Commission is planning its annual Fall Foliage celebration, scheduled for Oct. 25 and Oct. 26. The popular hayrides have returned with a bit of a twist this year. The commission is sponsoring a contest for its Saturday night Haunted Hayride. The winning "haunting" groups and individuals will be eligible for cash prizes.

St. Peter's Union

Sunday worship services are held at 9 a.m. in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville. This week's service will include a Joyous Noise Offering. Sunday school classes will meet at 10:15 a.m.

Also on Sunday, the Confirmation class will meet at 11:30 a.m.; Cub Scouts will meet in the fellowship hall from 4 to 8 p.m.; bell choir will meet at 6 p.m.; Daisies, Brownies, Juniors and Cadets will meet at 6 p.m.

Activities for next week include: Tuesday, prayer group at 5 p.m.; Thursday, play practice at 6 p.m., junior choir practice at 7 p.m. and senior choir rehearsal at 7:30 p.m.

Youth Sunday will be celebrated on Oct. 19.

Zion Lutheran

Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church offers a Saturday worship service. The contemporary-style service is held at 5:30 p.m. in the church social hall.

Sunday worship services are held at 9 a.m.

The Goods and Stuff Rummage Sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
