Board of Health
The October meeting of the Tamaqua Board of Health was held at the municipal building with James Gormley, Randy Gormley, Earl Boettger, Shirley Becker, Health Officer Judith Hadesty R.N. and Health Enforcement Officer Matthew Meyers in attendance.
Meyers reported receiving and adjusting five complaints: one for animal waste; one rat complaint; one leaking sewer; one unclean restaurant and one in progress inspection on the construction of a restaurant kitchen area.
There were no cases of reportable diseases for the month of September.
TEPTO
The Tamaqua Elementary Parent Teacher Organization will be conducting its annual membership drive through Oct. 31. Membership is open to adult family members of students in the Tamaqua and Rush elementary schools.
The next regular meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Tamaqua Elementary school library. Fifth-grade parents will also meet that day at 5:30 p.m.
The meeting will include an update on the current KidsStuff fundraiser coupon books.
Bethany EC
The Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 8 a.m. traditional and 10:30 a.m. contemporary services this Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Sunday school will meet at 9:15 a.m.
Also this Sunday, the monthly service at the Tamaqua ABC High Rise will be held at 6 p.m.
Activities for next week include: Monday, Made to Crave growth group meets at 6 p.m.; Tuesday, prayer time at 8:30 a.m., Good News Club resumes meetings at the South Ward Playground at 3:45 p.m., Smart Stepfamily Growth Group meets at 6:30 p.m.; Wednesday, Psalms Growth group meets at 1 p.m. at the Majestic House, Tamaqua Youth Ministry meets at 6:30 p.m., GriefShare meets at 7 p.m., TYM staff meeting at 8 p.m.; Saturday, musician rehearsal at 8:30 a.m., praise practice at 9 a.m.
Calvary Evangelical
The Rev. Dr. Edward Bean will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Calvary Evangelical Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley. Guest speaker will be Gary Bates. The service will also include words and music from representatives of the Christian Motorcyclist Association.
A time of praise and prayer will be held at 7 p.m. next Wednesday at the home of Carl and Marge Heisler.
