Tax exemptions

The Schuylkill County and Tamaqua Borough Per Capita and Occupation Tax Exemption Forms for the year 2015 will be available as of Nov. 3 for borough of Tamaqua residents.

The exemption forms can be obtained at the Tamaqua Municipal Building, 320 E. Broad St., Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Forms will also be available at tax collector Pamela McCullion's office, the Tamaqua Area School District Administration building, the Tamaqua ABC High Rise, Majestic House Apartment Complex, the Tamaqua Public Library and the Tamaqua Post Office.

Residents must complete the form each year to qualify for the tax exemption.

Exoneration forms must be submitted by Jan. 30, 2015.

Halloween parade

The annual Tamaqua Halloween Parade, sponsored by the Tamaqua Lions Club with assistance from the Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce, is set for Tuesday, beginning at 7 p.m. Participants will assemble at the east end of the borough by 6:45 p.m. and the line of march will then head west on Broad Street.

Trick or Treat

Tamaqua Mayor Chris Morrison has designated Oct. 31 as Trick or Treat Night in Tamaqua. Hours will be from 6-8 p.m. Residents willing to offer treats to the tricksters are reminded to turn on their porch or exterior lights.

The New Life Assembly of God Church will also host its "Light Up The Night" event on trick or treat night. Open to children between the ages of 3 and 12 accompanied by an adult, the event will include games, candy, popcorn, cotton candy and door prizes. The door prizes will be drawn every half-hour between 6 and 8 p.m.

St. John Lutheran

The Rev. Phyllis Wolford will officiate at the 9:15 a.m. worship service this Reformation Sunday in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. The service will include Holy Communion. Sunday school class will meet at 10:30 a.m.

Also on Sunday, the Confirmation class will meet at 10:30 a.m. and the allegro bell choir will rehearse at noon.

Activities for next week will include: Monday, cottage meeting at 2 p.m.; Thursday, angel choir meets at 6 p.m., shepherd choir practice is at 6:30 p.m., and the chancel choir will rehearse at 7:30 p.m.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate at this Sunday's service in Zion Church in the Lewistown Valley. Sunday school will be held at 9:15 a.m.

Bible study sessions are held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursdays. Also on Thursdays, the Confirmation class meets at 6:30 p.m.

St. John UCC

The Rev. Kevin Duffy Guy will officiate at the 9:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. John United Church of Christ. The service will be followed by a time of fellowship. Sunday school will begin at the end of the junior sermon.

Also on Sunday, the Confirmation class will meet at 11 a.m.

Activities for next week will include: Tuesday, hoagie sale at noon; Wednesday choir rehearsal at 7:30 p.m.
