Tax exemptions
The Schuylkill County and Tamaqua Borough Per Capita and Occupation Tax Exemption Forms for the year 2015 will be available as of Monday for borough of Tamaqua residents.
The exemption forms can be obtained at the Tamaqua Municipal Building, 320 E. Broad St., Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Forms will also be available at tax collector Pamela McCullion's office, the Tamaqua Area School District Administration building, the Tamaqua ABC High Rise, Majestic House Apartment Complex, the Tamaqua Public Library and the Tamaqua Post Office.
Residents must complete the form each year to qualify for the tax exemption.
Exoneration forms must be submitted by Jan. 30.
St. John XXIII
The consolidation of SS. Peter and Paul and St. Jerome Catholic churches in Tamaqua has led to a few changes in the Mass schedules at both churches, as well as a name change for St. Jerome's.
Now known as the Parish of St. John XXIII, Masses will continue to be held at both churches.
At St. John XXIII (former St. Jerome's), weekend Masses are held at 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays and at 11 a.m. on Sundays. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. on Saturdays.
Masses at SS. Peter and Paul are held at 8 and 9:30 a.m. on Sundays. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is from 8:45 to 9:15 a.m. on Sundays.
The Fifth Annual Advent Wreath Making Session will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov. 29, in the St. Jerome Regional School gym. St. Peter's Union
Sunday worship services are held at 9 a.m. in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville. This week's service will include the celebration of youth Sunday. Sunday school classes will meet at 10:15 a.m.
Also on Sunday, the Confirmation class will meet at 11:30 a.m.; bell choir and youth group will both meet at 6 p.m.; Daisies, Brownies, Juniors, Cub Scouts and Cadets will meet at 6 p.m.
Activities for next week include: Tuesday, prayer group at 5 p.m., Women of St. Peter's will meet at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, apple dumpling pickup from noon to 5 p.m., play practice and church staff meeting at 6 p.m., junior choir practice at 7 p.m. and senior choir rehearsal at 7:30 p.m.
Reformation Sunday will be observed on Oct. 26.
St. John UCC
The Rev. Kevin Duffy Guy will officiate at the 9:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. John United Church of Christ. The service will include the observance of Harvest Home and annual canned goods drive, which will benefit the food pantry at Trinity United Church of Christ. Sunday school will begin at the end of the junior sermon.
Activities for next week will include: Monday, spiritual council meeting at 7:30 p.m.; Tuesday, bell choir rehearsal at 7:30 p.m.; Wednesday choir rehearsal at 7:30 p.m.
