Pleasant Valley Middle School band concert will be presented tonight at the middle school.
Legion events
The West End Home Association, West End Memorial Post 927, will meet tonight at 7:30.
The West End American Legion meets at 7:30 p.m. the first Thursday of the month at the Post Home.
PVEN board
The Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network's board of directors will meet at 9 a.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville.

PV School Board
The Pleasant Valley School District School Board will meet at 8 p.m. Thursday at the District Office on Route 115 in Brodheadsville.
Church Women United
Church Women United of Monroe County invites everyone to its Christmas meeting at noon Friday.
The host church is Faith United Methodist, 1160 Clause Drive, Stroudsburg. Participants are asked to bring a covered dish to share. Filled Christmas stockings will be collected. They should be marked either for man, woman or child. RSVP Betty at 570-629-0649.
The new president, Marlene Maula, and a new treasurer, Donna Talcove, will be installed, and the winner of the eighth Margaret Wyckoff Wells award will be recognized.
Meet & Greet
Pocono Greyhound Adoption will be holding a Meet & Greet from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at Tractor Supply Co., Route 209 in Brodheadsville.

Pets and kids' pictures will be taken at Safe Haven Rescue Santa Claws on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Berger's Agway, Route 209 in Brodheadsville.

Christmas concert
The Pleasant Valley Choral Society will present its annual Christmas concert, Sounds of the Season, at 7 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at the Pleasant Valley High School auditorium in Brodheadsville.
This year's concert will feature traditional favorites, as well as lesser-known songs, both secular and sacred. Portions of the proceeds will be donated to Valor. Tickets may be purchased at the door. For more information, call 570-402-2026 or email pvchoralsociety@yahoo.com.
Zion worship
Zion United Lutheran Church will have a 5 p.m. worship service this Saturday as well as the standard worship service at 8 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday, the second Sunday of Advent.
The Confirmation Class will present a Christmas skit at the later Sunday service. The church family plans to go Christmas caroling on Friday evening, beginning at 5 p.m.
Busy Santa
Santa will have lunch at the Pleasant Valley Elementary School at 11 a.m. Saturday.
He will visit Ross Township at 4 p.m. Saturday at the township park on Anchorage Road in Saylorsburg. The event will include cookies, cocoa, tree lighting and pictures with Santa.
Then Santa comes to Chestnuthill Park in Brodheadsville from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 12. That visit will also include cookies, cocoa, tree lighting and pictures with Santa. Participants at either of those two events are asked to bring a nonperishable food item for donation to Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network and/or a new unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots.
Blood drive
The American Red Cross will host a blood drive from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday at the Chestnuthill Park on Route 715 in Brodheadsville.
Lioness board
The Western Pocono Lioness board of directors will meet at noon Monday at Cherry's Sunset Family Restaurant in Kresgeville. All Lioness members are welcome.
The club's calendar also includes: 6 p.m. Dec. 16 at the American Legion, a regular meeting; Dec. 18, the club visit to Getz's in Jonas; and Dec. 20, the club's Christmas luncheon at the Kunkletown Pub in Kunkletown.

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church is holding Advent evening prayer services.

Poster contest
Knights of Columbus is holding a Keep Christ in Christmas poster contest for boys and girls from ages 5 to 7, 8 to 10 and 11 to 14 on an international level. The deadline is Dec. 15.

Touch of Home
Operation: Touch of Home will hold its next meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the American Legion Post Home in Gilbert.
Chestnuthill Seniors
Free blood pressure readings will be given at the Chestnuthill Senior Center at Zion Lutheran in Brodheadsville from 11 a.m. to noon Dec. 10. Also on that day a special program, Get Ready for Winter, will be presented at 10:45 a.m.
The menu for this Friday is baked ham. Next Wednesday it is shredded pork on a roll along with corn chowder and other items.
