Free meals
Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Gilbert, is hosting its Community Sunday Supper from 3-4 p.m. Sunday and its community luncheon at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
West End Missions offers its Community Meals on Tuesdays and Thursdays in McCawley Hall from 4:30 -5:30 p.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace. The next meal will be Thursday.
All Sports Club
Pleasant Valley All Sports Club will meet at 7 p.m., Monday, Jan. 13, in the high school library.
NJHS induction
The National Junior Honor Society induction will be held at 7 p.m., Monday, Jan. 13 in the Pleasant Valley Middle School gymnasium.
Local Lion honored
Longtime Brodheadsville businessman and Western Pocono Lions Club member Chris Sweeney was recently honored for his work as president of the Northeast Pennsylvania Lions Eye Bank and the creation of the Eye Bank's Foundation, with a proclamation presented by Bob Morgan for Congressman Matt Cartright.
The Eye Bank, founded by local Lions in 1957, has provided over 30,000 corneas to various hospitals and other entities within its 37-county service area in Northeast Pennsylvania.

Zion Lutheran Church's Knit & Crochet group will meet at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 14.
Soup & bread
Faith Mountain Church, Brodheadsville, is giving away free bread on Tuesdays at Sun Valley Fire Company in Effort, and soup is also served at 5:15 p.m. For more information call 610-844-3620.

The Pleasant Valley High School PAC will meet at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 15 at the high school.
Seniors Program
The Chestnuthill Senior Center, meeting in Zion Lutheran Church's Fellowship Hall in Brodheadsville, will feature Beating the Winter Blues by Jessica Engle of Home Instead Senior Care at 11:15 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 15. The full gathering begins at 9 a.m.
