Panther Valley did the right thing
Dear Editor,
Had to respond to the editorial placed by Mr. Lynn about the PV Girls Basketball coach Josh Wank.
Mr. Lynn made it sound like Wank and Baran went to Minersville and made the team what it was. He failed to mention they are assistant coaches, not head coaches so Mr. Wank's way of coaching was not placed on the girls from Minersville, that team was there and in place when he got there.
Mr. Wank has to take directions from the Minersville head coach and was not able to jump up and down and scream like a maniac on the sidelines like he did for PV. He also mentioned the girls who left PV to go to Marian this year and made it sound like Marian would never have gotten as far as they did without these girls, which is far from the truth. They have a GREAT coach. He also failed to mention all the girls that quit the PV team when Mr. Wank was coach; some seniors and in the middle of the season; and also the many times after losing a game the girls would come out of the locker room crying and the special meeting they had to have before he was left go because of the way he treated his players.
My granddaughter was one that he use to pick on and you have to remember that this is high school sports. Not the NBA or WNBA where winning is the most important aspect, it is now supposed to be more about teamwork and fun at this level. It is like Al Bundy's four touchdowns in one game. In the real world this will be forgotten about in a very short time.
The PV school board did the right thing and they should be proud they put their students growing experiences ahead of winning. It is not about laughing at anyone, Mr. Lynn.
