Writing Boot Camp set for April

Published March 20. 2014 05:00PM

Registration is open for Black Diamond Writers Network's Writing Boot Camp, set for Saturday, April 26, at Tamaqua Community Art Center, 125 Pine St., Tamaqua.

If you're ready to get serious about starting a novel, or tackling issues that caused you to stall on a project, then you may find this program of interest.

The day's sessions will be led by Kathryn W. Craft, developmental editor and owner/president of WritingPartner.com.

She serves on the board of the Philadelphia Writers Conference and is the author of "The Art of Falling," released Jan. 28 and "While the Leaves Stand Still," due next year. For more information go to KathrynCraft.com.

The morning session, "Word Dancing," will be a hands-on workshop for writers of fiction and nonfiction. Participants will look at rhythm, word order and paragraphing, and will also contemplate the effective use of silence and when to trash the rules.

In the afternoon session, "I Wrote It Now What?", Craft will offer self-editing tips as well as explore options for writers who have finished their manuscripts.

There will be a question-and-answer session with Craft about writing, editing and publishing, as well as a book signing.

There is a discounted rate for early registration, postmarked by March 31 and discounted rates for seniors and students.

Walk-in registration accepted. Lunch will be supplied. For more information, contact Kathy Ruff at 570-645-3059.
