Coaldale
Coaldale UMC
The United Methodist Church, on the corner of Second and W. High streets, Coaldale, has changed it's time of worship with church now beginning at 10:30 a.m.
The church welcomed its new minister, the Rev. Elisandra Garcia, who has recently accepted the position and encourages all to come and meet her and visit the "Little Dutch Church" as it was called in the past.
With the church's long and fruitful history, Rev. Garcia is excited to go forth with community involvement and welcoming new congregants or visitors searching for a church.
Coaldale Republicans
The Annual Spring Campaign Dinner of the Coaldale Republican Party will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, May 18, in the Viennese Villa, 6th and Ruddle streets.
Guest speaker for the dinner will be incumbent state Rep. Jerry Knowles, who represents the 124th Legislative District, which includes eastern Schuylkill County and Summit Hill in Carbon County.
Knowles will be on the ballot for the Primary Election May 20.
Reservations for the dinner are required and may be made by contacting GOP town Chairman Bob Ames at 570-645-3587 by Monday.
Coaldale Lions
The Coaldale Lions Club will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, May 20 at 5:45 p.m. at the Viennese Villa.
Panther Valley
Golden Agers
The Panther Valley Golden Agers met April 28 with club President Irene Hudasky presiding. Bernice Strepko gave an inspirational reading.
New members and birthday celebrants were recognized.
The Annual Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Church, Summit Hill. The celebrant will be the Rev. James Burdess.
A candlelighting ceremony will be held for 15 deceased members. A social will be held following the services at St. John's Slovak Lutheran Church Social Hall.
There will be no meeting Monday, May 26 due to Memorial Day observance. The next meeting will be Monday, June 9. A representative from Diakon Services will be the speaker.
The hospitality team for June and July is Violet McHugh and Mary Ann Yusella.
Lansford
AMVETS
The regular meeting of the Lansford AMVETS Post 83 will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the American Legion Post 123 located at 3 W. Ridge St.
Nomination and election of officers will take place at this time.
