Tamaqua couple wed 50 years

Mr. and Mrs. Earl Billig of Tamaqua celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 11. They were married in St. Matthew's Church, Weatherly, by the Rev. Harold Lesh.

Given in marriage by her brother, Michael Tepo Jr. of Allentown, the bride was attended by the late Nancy Yorke as maid of honor. Best man duties were performed by the late Paul Fisher Jr.

Mrs. Billig is the former Joan Tepo, daughter of Josephine Tepo Vogle of Tamaqua and the late Michael Tepo Sr.

Mr. Billig is the son of the late Neal and Florence Billig of Weatherly.

The couple has four children: David and Joanie, both of Tamaqua; Susan, wife of Bill Coombe of Tamaqua; and Debbie, wife of Robert Leibensperger Jr. of Hometown.

They also have four grandchildren: Ashley, a student at Misericordia University; Nathaniel, a student at Penn State University, University Park campus; Collin, a student at Lehigh Carbon Community College; and McKenzee, a fourth-grade student at the Tamaqua Elementary School.
