Lehighton couple celebrates 60 years
Mr. and Mrs. Ronald A. Mahler of Lehighton recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They were married on Sept. 5, 1953 at Grace Lutheran Church, Lehighton, by the Rev. Herr.
The former Janice M. Edgar is the daughter of the late Lulu and Hamlet Edgar of Lehighton. Her husband is the son of the late Ethel and Lyman Mahler of Lehighton.
The couple has a daughter, Donna, wife of Joseph Metzger, of Jamestown, N.C. They have twin grandsons: Jason, who is married to Salem, of Greensboro, N.C.; and Matthew, who is married to Sarah, of Manchester, Conn. The couple also has one great-grandson, Griffin, of Greensboro.
Mrs. Mahler is retired from the Carbon-Lehigh Intermediate Unit #21 in 1993 after 38 years as an instructional assistant.
Mr. Mahler retired from the Lehigh Valley-Conrail Railroad in 1996 after 41 years as a conductor/brakeman. He currently serves as secretary/treasurer for Lehigh Fire Co. #1 House Committee, having held this position for the past 46 years.
A celebration dinner with family and friends was recently held at Platz's Restaurant, given by their daughter and her husband.
