Middle school news

Christopher Czapla, principal of the Tamaqua Area Middle School, has announced an orientation session will be held Aug. 5, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Parents of sixth graders, as well as seventh and eighth graders new to the district, are welcome to attend.

Information will be presented on student schedules, activities, facilities and discipline.

Individuals will meet in the school district auditorium, then have the opportunity to tour the building accompanied by student guides. Information will be provided on student schedules and activities, facilities and discipline. The middle school store will be open.

Homeroom assignments will be posted on the school's front/main door as of Aug. 5.

Raider band

The Tamaqua Raider Band's annual Band Camp will begin at 8 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 5. Attendance at camp is mandatory for all band members.

High school schedules

Schedules for students who will be attending Tamaqua Area Senior High School will be available next week, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The schedules will be in the high school office.

SS. Peter and Paul

The Holy Name Society of SS. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church will meet at 8 p.m. next Thursday. Topics for discussion will be the annual picnic, to be held Aug. 11 at the Mahoning Township Grove, and the 99th Annual Lithuanian Days celebration, Aug. 10-11 at the Schuylkill Mall in Frackville.

St. John Lutheran

The Rev. Jeffrey Kistler will officiate at the 9:15 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. The service will include Holy Communion.

The finance and worship/music committees will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 8. Information for the September issue of the Messenger is due by Aug. 14.
