Rotary speaker
Stroudsburg businessman Jim Becker of Access Technologies, will be the guest speaker at the West End Rotary Club at its 7:30 a.m. breakfast meeting, Thursday, Sept. 12, at the Western Pocono Community Library. His topic will be Rotary Fellow.
PAC/PTO meets
Pleasant Valley Middle School's PAC/PTO will meet at 2 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 12.
PV School Board
The Pleasant Valley School District Board of Education will hold its next meeting at 8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 12, in the district offices in Brodheadsville.
PIC meets
Pride in Chestnuthill (PIC) will meet at 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 12, at the Chestnuthill Township Municipal Building on Route 715. More volunteers are welcome.
Food pantry open
Effort UMC's Supplemental Family Resource Center will be open from 10 a.m. until noon, Saturday, Sept. 14.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Our Lady Queen of Peace's Prayer Shawl Ministry, begun by youth, will meet from 10 a.m. until noon, Saturday, Sept. 14, in the Teen Room. The group meets the second Saturday of each month.
Monroe Seniors
The Monroe County Seniors meeting at Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville, will meet again Friday, Sept. 13, beginning at 9 a.m.

Service change
The Sunday Contemporary Service for September at Effort UMC will not be held so persons can support the United Dream Ride organized by Wayne Halliday on Sunday, Sept. 15. The United Dream Ride benefits seriously, chronically and terminally ill children.
Anyone who would like to attend a Contemporary Service can join folks Saturday, Sept. 14, at 5 p.m. for the Saturday Praise Service.
The Sunday Contemporary Service will resume on Sunday, Oct. 20, at 9:45 a.m.
Greyhound adoption
Pocono Greyhound Adoption will be participating in Ross Township Community Day, VanBuskirk-Haney Community Park, Anchorage Road, Saylorsburg, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 14. The rain date is Sept. 15.

Adoption Day
Safe Haven Pet Rescue will hold an adoption day from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15, at Tractor Supply, Route 209, Brodheadsville.
The West End group will have many young dogs available for you to meet and get to know. Safe Haven requires a pre-adoption application with references and a home visit before adoption.

Free demo
Music Together w/Amy, with free demos, will take place on Monday, Sept 16, at 5:45 p.m. and Thursday, Sept. 19, at 5.p.m. at the Chestnuthill Park Building, Route 715, Brodheadsville. Classes are 45 minutes and designed for ages 0-5 years.

Pleasant Valley Middle School will host it Open House, beginning at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 17.
Vets group begins
A free Veterans Support Group began at the American Legion Post Home in late August, and meets monthly at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month.
The group is for veterans who suffer from the psychological scars of war or combat stress. It is led by Glen Lippincott, a combat-wounded Vietnam veteran He can be reached at (570) 242-0810 or (570) 992-6038 or at glipp@ptd.net or at lippincottg@gmail.com.
The mission of the group is to improve the lives of the veterans by providing free access to coaching and care that will address service-connected conditions and improve life skills for work and life outside of service.
The group will next meet Tuesday, Sept. 17.
Lions's speaker
The Western Pocono Lions Club will meet Wednesday, Sept. 18. The monthly dinner meeting will be held at The Old Mill Pizza on Route 209 in Sciota. Members and guests will gather at 6:30 p.m.; the meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Dinner will be ordered off the menu.
The guest speaker for the evening will be from the American Red Cross and will speak about disaster preparedness.
