Conservation Club
The next meeting of the Nesquehoning Conservation Club will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 4 at Maple Shade Meadows beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Plans for the Community Nature Park will be discussed along with a fall fish stocking.
Members are reminded to bring in their Redners Save-A-Tapes.
VFW Ladies Auxiliary
The regular monthly meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary to Nesquehoning Memorial VFW Post 8008 was held Aug. 13, at the Post Home. President Ellen Driesbach presided.
Information on the Scotland School Golf Tournament and General Orders 1 were read and filed for action.
Ninety cards were sent under Veterans and Family Support.
Several lap robes have been made or donated for delivery to Wilkes-Barre VAMC.
A bloodmobile collection was held at the Post Home in July and a donation was made to the 100-mile Erie to Pittsburgh Diabetes Walk.
Information on the Voice of Democracy and Patriot's Pen programs will be provided to the schools as soon as it is received.
The Fall Conference was held in Harrisburg on Aug. 16-17 and the joint District 20 meeting was held on Sunday, Aug. 18 in Northampton.
The national president will visit the Harrisburg area from Sept. 9-12.
Members are reminded that dues for 2014 are now payable.
The next regular meeting will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 6:30 p.m., at the Post Home.
All members are urged to attend.
