Halloween parade

The Eldred Township Halloween Parade's registration deadline is this Sunday for the Sunday, Oct. 20th parade (rain date Oct. 27). Registration forms are available at the township municipal building, Kunkletown Post Office and the Kunkletown General Store.

There is no registration fee but participants are encouraged to bring a nonperishable food item to be donated to Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network's food bank. Treats are only guaranteed for those who have preregistered.

All preregistered entries will be judged for cash prizes in each of the six categories of: Most Original; Cutest; Ugliest; Best Pair; Best Group; Best Float.

Historical society

The Eldred Township Historical Society will meet on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Eldred Township municipal building. All are invited to attend.

Operation: Touch of Home

Items such as toiletries, playing cards, DVDs, CDs and nonperishable food items are sought for our service men and women who are overseas, to be sent in care packages through Operation: Touch of Home. Items may be brought to the church during office hours, Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. or Sundays, 8-11:30 a.m.

Bible study

The Rev. Suzanne Brooks-Cope, pastor of St. Matthew's UCC, will be leading a Bible Study for anyone dealing with death and loss. It is based on a book by James Moore, "When Grief Breaks Your Heart." The five-week study begins on Tuesday at 1 p.m. This is free and open to anyone.

Laymen's Fellowship

Laymen's Fellowship of St. Matthew's UCC needs baked items for its bake sale on Saturday. If you can make something, please have it at the church by Friday afternoon or early Saturday morning.
