PVEN board

The board of directors for the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network, including area pastors and lay persons, will meet at 9 a.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran in Brodheadsville.

Band parents meet

The Pleasant Valley Band Parents will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the high school in Brodheadsville.

Tree lighting

Chestnuthill Township will hold its annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony from at 6 p.m., Friday at the Chestnuthill Park in Brodheadsville.

At 4 p.m. Sunday Santa and all that is happening moves to Saylorsburg, at the township park on Anchorage Road. Hot cocoa and cookies will be provided, but nonperishables and new, unwrapped toys are being collected for Toys for Tots.

Lioness events

The Western Pocono Lioness Club has a filled December agenda. On Saturday members, joined by Lions from the Western Pocono Lions Club, will be busy at the annual Breakfast with Santa at Salem UCC in Gilbert.

On Monday, Dec. 9, a Lioness group will meet for a Christmas luncheon at Studebakers, while the club board meeting, Wednesday, Dec. 11, is set for Cherry's in Kresgeville. The next regular meeting will be Tuesday, Dec. 17 at the American Legion. That will include a gift exchange and a Cookie Bonanza.

Lioness members, along with a special Santa, will visit Getz's in Jonas on Dec. 19.

Princess Tea

Pleasant Valley Presbyterian Church, 150 Pilgrim Way, Brodheadsville, is holding a Princess Tea to honor and celebrate all, and to acknowledge everything that women in Christ do. The celebration will take place from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday at the church. Participants are asked to bring food and/or a dessert for all to share as well as a friend or relative.

All Sports Club

Pleasant Valley's All Sports Club will meet at 7 p.m., Monday, Dec. 9, at the high school library in Brodheadsville.

Band concert

Pleasant Valley High School's Band Concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 10. The snow date is Wednesday, Dec. 11.

Busy bodies

On Tuesday, Dec. 10 at Zion Lutheran Church, the Walking Group will meet at 11 a.m. at the Western Pocono Community Library. The Knit & Crochet Group meets at 1 p.m., while the choir practices at 7:30 p.m.

Adoption Day

Safe Haven Pet Rescue will hold an adoption day from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 15, at Tractor Supply, Route 209, Brodheadsville.

There will be young dogs available for folks to meet. Safe Haven requires a pre-adoption application with references and a home visit before adoption.

Volunteers are needed to help with adoption days, fundraising, transporting dogs to vets and groomers and fostering homeless dogs until they find their forever homes.
