Eldred tree lighting

There will be an Eldred Township tree lighting ceremony at the Eldred Township municipal building at 6 p.m. Sunday. Bring an ornament to hang on the tree. There will be caroling and cookies and hot chocolate served afterward. New unwrapped toys for the Toys for Tots drive will be accepted.

Chrismons

There will be a Chrismon-making workshop, at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at St. Matthew's UCC. Chrismons are Christian symbols representing Jesus that are made entirely in gold and white and hung on the Christmas tree.

PVEN needs truck

PVEN is seeking anyone with a box truck or enclosed trailer to drive to Tobyhanna Army Depot on Saturday, Dec. 14 and then to get a load of toys from Gilbert on Dec. 15 to be dropped off at the West End Fire Co. that day. Volunteers are also needed to work in the West End Fire Co. kitchen Dec. 15 during the toy drive.

PVEN Thanksgiving service

PVEN's Community Thanksgiving Service will be at 3 p.m. Nov. 24 at Salem UCC in Gilbert. St. Matthew's UCC's pastor, the Rev. Suzanne Brooks-Cope will be preaching. If you plan to attend, please bring a finger food to share for the Fellowship Hour after the service. Donations of a nonperishable food for PVEN will be appreciated.

Chestnut Ridge Seniors

There will be no meeting of the Chestnut Ridge Seniors on Thursday, Nov. 28. The next meeting will be for their Christmas Dinner at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12 at the Kunkletown Volunteer Fire Co. The meal will be catered by Kunkletown General Store.
