Committee meets
The West End Parks & Open Space meeting will take place at 7 p.m., this evening at Chestnuthill Township Park Building in Brodheadsville.
PAC meets
The Pleasant Valley Middle School PAC/PTO will meet at 2 p.m., Thursday.
PIC meets
Pride in Chestnuthill will meet at 7 p.m., Thursday at the Chestnuthill Township Municipal Building in Brodheadsville.
Leo induction
The Pleasant Valley Leo Club is slated to hold its rescheduled induction of members on Thursday in the PVHS cafeteria, beginning at 6 p.m. with a potluck dinner. Melissa Dennis, Leo Club adviser, is scheduled to give out awards. Club officers may be announced.
Chestnuthill Center
Seniors are invited to join the Senior group meeting at 1919 Route 209, Brodheadsville, Wednesdays and Fridays. The manager is Dolores Casalaspro. She can be reached at 570-420-3735.
A special program on Aging and Alcohol will be presented at the West End site at Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville at 11:15 a.m. Friday. Those seniors planning to eat at the center should call the manager a few days ahead of time.
PVMS concerts
The Pleasant Valley Middle School band concert is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., Friday in the middle school gym.
The PVMS chorus concert is slated for Tuesday, Dec. 17.
Adoption day
Safe Haven Pet Rescue will hold an adoption day from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Sunday at Tractor Supply, Route 209, Brodheadsville.

Community dinner
Our Lady Queen of Peace is hosting a Community Christmas Dinner from 3-4 p.m., Sunday. Those planning to attend are asked to call the office for reservations 610- 681-6137.
Serving others
The UMW of Effort UMC will be providing a spaghetti dinner with homemade meat sauce on Tuesday, Dec. 17 before the Bridges Out of Poverty Session. Pat Mackes, Rosalie Juris and Dolores Juris will be preparing, and delivering, the dinner to Christ Episcopal Church on 7th Street in Stroudsburg.
Bridges Out of Poverty is a teaching tool to help employers, community organizations, social-service agencies, and individuals address and reduce poverty in a comprehensive way.
Lioness meet
The Western Pocono Lioness Club will meet Tuesday, Dec. 17, at the American Legion, beginning with a social hour at 6 p.m. and a short business meeting at 7 p.m. There will be an unknown item gift exchange and a cookie bonanza, for which members are asked to bring a dozen family favorites to share.
Supervisors meet
The Chestnuthill Township board of supervisors will meet at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 17, at the Chestnuthill Township Municipal Building.
Penance Service
Our Lady Queen of Peace will hold an Advent Season Penance Service at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 17.
PVHS PAC meets
The Pleasant Valley High School PAC will meet at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 18.
Lions meet
The Western Pocono Lions Club will hold its monthly dinner meeting held at The Covered Bridge Inn, Little Gap, at 4 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 18. Since this is the club's Christmas party as well, attendance is by reservations only, as made earlier this month.
Those attending are reminded to bring an unwrapped gift item for a resident of Pleasant Valley Manor. The list of suggested items was posted in the club's monthly newsletter.
Historical society
Chestnuthill Township Historical Society is slated to meet at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 18 at Chestnuthill Township Municipal Building.
Christmas party
The American Legion Women's Auxiliary Unit 927 on 209, Gilbert, is hosting a Christmas party for the community at the Post Home from 1-4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 21. It is free for children ages 1-12. There is a nominal fee for older children. Other guidelines apply. The deadline for sign-up is Dec. 18 at the Legion.
The event offers a visit by Santa, food, gifts, activities, baked goods, and more.
