Tamaqua couple wed 62 years

Mr. and Mrs. Donald E. Kester recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. They were married March 24, 1951 at St. John Evangelical & Reformed Church (now U.C.C.), by the Rev. Arthur D. Knoebel.

Mrs. Kester is the former Miriam Weston, daughter of the late William J. and Doris (Brewer) Weston of Tamaqua. Her husband is the son of the late Edward A. and Elva (Lindenmuth) Kester, also of Tamaqua.

The Kesters have three children: Vaal, and his wife Janet Kester of West Penn Township; Aimee, and her husband, Michael Caputo of Weatherly; and Terri and her husband Edward Kane of Tamaqua.

They have five grandchildren: Christopher and Eric Schaefer, Meredith Kester, and Ashley and Amanda Kane. They have one great-grandchild: Madelyn Rose Schaefer.

The couple celebrated the event at a family dinner held in their honor.
