Graduates from Muhlenberg College
Erin R. Litsch, daughter of George and Diane Litsch of Tamaqua and granddaughter of Marian LaBella of Tamaqua and Sadie Litsch of Mahanoy City, recently graduated magna cum laude from Muhlenberg College, Allentown, with a bachelor of the arts degree in English. She also completed a minor in art history and obtained her Pennsylvania Secondary English Certification for teaching.
She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. She was also named to the dean's list for all eight semesters of study and was the recipient of the Anne E. Wonsiewicz Scholars in Education Award in both the spring of 2012 and the spring of 2013. This award is given by the Muhlenberg College Education Department to a student who exhibits outstanding academic achievement and superior potential for teaching excellence.
She completed student teaching at both Orefield Middle School and Northwestern Lehigh High School.
Erin is also a member of the Alpha Epsilon Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Honor Society, which recognizes students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and who hold leadership positions that positively impact their campus community. She held the office of president from spring 2012 to spring 2013 and was awarded the Muhlenberg Excellence in Leadership Award for an outstanding Omicron Delta Kappa member in the spring of 2012.
Erin was a lead tutor of the Muhlenberg College Writing Center, where she was a writing assistant for first year seminars, writing associate for upperclassmen writing intensive courses, drop-in center tutor, and writing mentor for students with special learning needs. She worked with her fellow tutors and faculty to improve the center and designed workshops for the training of the tutors in the program.
In November 2011, she was selected to present her research, "Navigating the Seas of Embedded Tutoring," in an individual lecture at the National Conference of Peer Tutors of Writing in Miami, Fla. In October 2012, she was again selected to present her research, "Adapting to the Call of Duty: The Roles of the Writing Tutor in the Classroom," in an individual lecture at the International Writing Center Association Conference in San Diego, Calif. She presented to her fellow tutors, college faculty members, and leading writing practice theorists.
Erin also worked in the Muhlenberg College Admissions Office and as a campus tour guide for three years. She was a member of the Muhlenberg Activities Council, Muhlenberg Education Society, and a peer note taker during her four years as well.
She is currently employed by the Northwestern Lehigh School District and is a 2009 graduate of Marian Catholic High School.
