Collecting stuffed animals
New or very gently used stuffed animals for children in emotional or traumatic situations for the SAFE program of PA are being collected at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church.
PVHS Honor Society
The Pleasant Valley High School National Honor Society will hold its new member induction on Wednesday, Jan. 16. The induction will begin at 7 p.m. in the PVHS auditorium. All family, friends and staff are welcome to attend.
Rotary speaker
The West End Rotary Club will hear from its own member, Zena Keller, on Thursday, Jan. 17. Keller will give a classification presentation at the 7:30 a.m. breakfast meeting. The club meets at the Western Pocono Community Library in Brodheadsville.
Date change
The Prayers Shawl Ministry at Effort UMC has announced a change of meeting for January. The next meeting will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 22. February meetings will be Feb. 5 and Feb. 19.
Zion Seniors
The Senior Citizens group, Zion's Seniors, will meet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 17, in the Brodheadsville church's Parish Hall.
Participants are reminded to bring a sandwich. Beverages will be provided.
Hiking ahead
The West End Park and Open Space Commission will host a winter hike with naturalist Don Miller at 1 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 27. Participants should meet at the Chestnuthill Township Park, 221 Route 715, Brodheadsville. The public is invited to attend and explore the newly established trail at West End Regional Park. The walk offers level terrain, both on/off trail, appropriate for all ages. Families are welcome.

Book signing
The Follow Me Foundation will present Susan Reynolds for an angel talk and book signing event of the new release "The Angel Lady: A Journey With My Companions," at 6 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 24, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in McCawley Hall.
March for Life
Our Lady Queen of Peace Youth Group is heading to the March for Life event being held in Washington, D.C. The group will leave on Thursday, Jan. 24, and return Friday, Jan. 25.
