Parenting help
An eight-week session designed to help parents is being offered, free of charge, at the Tamaqua Community Arts Center on Pine Street. The sessions will begin at 7 p.m. on Feb. 5
The "Homes of Honor Parenting Series" offers information on ways to become a better parent and develop closer relationships and better communication with your children. Topics include building a close knit family, motivational techniques, setting limits through contracts and more.
There is no fee for the course.

Trinity UCC
A Joyful Noise Offering will be part of the 10 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Trinity United Church of Christ. Sunday school classes meet at 8:45 a.m.
Activities for next week will include: Thursday, senior choir rehearsal at 6:30 p.m.; Saturday, prayer shawl meeting at 1 p.m.
A congregational meeting will be held during the 10 a.m. service on Jan. 27. The service will be followed by a chicken dinner in Founder's Hall.
Calvary Methodist
The Rev. Dr. Edward Bean will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. service this Sunday in Calvary Evangelical United Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley. The service will include a baby Baptism. Sunday school for all ages will be held at 9:15 a.m.
Also on Sunday, a time of praise, worship and Bible study will be held at 6:30 p.m.
An evening prayer and share service is held Wednesdays at 7 p.m.
On Jan. 18, Calvary will sponsor a "Family Game Night," beginning at 7 p.m. Participants are welcome to bring their favorite, family friendly game to share. Light refreshments will be available. Snow date will be Jan. 25.
