Midweek Lenten services continue at several area churches, including Effort UMC at 7 p.m.; Zion Lutheran in Brodheadsville at 7:30 p.m., with a soup and bread supper at 6 p.m. and a Shrinking Church Study at 7 p.m.
Prayer Shawl Ministries
Effort UMC's Prayer Shawl Ministry will gather at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 5.
Our Lady Queen of Peace group will meet from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 9. Please call Dori if participating at (610) 681-6137, Ext. 17. The group meets in the Teen Room.
Rotary speaker
Tiffany Brodt will be the featured speaker at the 7:30 a.m., Thursday, March 7, West End Rotary meeting. Her topic will focus on funeral direction.
The club meets at the Western Pocono Community Library in Brodheadsville.
PVEN Board
The board of directors for the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network will meet at 9 a.m., Thursday, March 7, at Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville.
PV Band Parents
A meeting of the Pleasant Valley Band Parents will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 7 at the high school.
PV Musical
Pleasant Valley High School will present the musical "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown" on Friday, March 15, and Saturday, March 16, at 7:30 p.m.; and at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 17.
For ticket information call the high school. Preorders must be placed by March 7.
Work Day

Greyhound Adoption

PV All Sports Group
The Pleasant Valley All Sports Club will meet at 7:30 p.m., Monday, March 11, in the high school library.
St. Patrick's party
The Fairview Seniors will hold a St. Patrick's Day party when they meet at the Chestnuthill Park building on Tuesday, March 12.
The group enjoyed a luncheon and show at Shawnee, and are planning another visit for July 11, according to group leader June Scharf.
DG visits Lions
Lions District 14U Governor Angie Mims is slated to meet with the Effort Lions Club at 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 12 at Woody's on Route 115, south of Blakeslee, north of Effort.
PVMS PAC/PYO
The Pleasant Valley Middle School PAC/PTO is slated to meet at 9 a.m., Wednesday, March 13.
No Dig Garden
Penn State Master Gardener Pam Hubbard will present Gardening Smarter, Not Harder at 7 p.m., Thursday, March 14, in Wesley Hall of Effort United Methodist Church. This program will include information on implementing a No Dig Garden and other useful tips on gardening with less effort. The congregation and the general public are invited to attend.

NHS brunch
The National Honor Society at Pleasant Valley High School will hold a brunch, beginning at 11 a.m., Sunday, March 17.
Easter Cantata
Effort UMC will present its Easter cantata at 11 a.m. on Palm Sunday, March 24.
Grief support
Effort UMC will offer a Grief Share Support Group, a 13-week program that starts Wednesday, April 17. Currently the groups meet at 11 a.m. and another at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays. The group sessions are approximately an hour long. Co-facilitators of the groups are Ann Sanders and Jan Decker. Anyone interested in attending please contact the church office at (570) 629-1890 no later than April 5.
