Drivers needed
The Carbon/Tamaqua Unit of the American Cancer Society is in need of volunteer drivers for its "Road to Recovery" program. The program provides volunteer transportation to cancer patients to and from their treatment sessions.
Drivers are an important part of a patient's recovery, providing moral support and a sympathetic ear. Volunteer drivers and coordinators provide a crucial service to patients whose friends and families are unable to drive them to every appointment. Retirees, students, homemakers or anyone with some spare time can volunteer to use their own private vehicles to help those in need. Most treatment sessions are held Monday through Friday mornings and/or afternoons. Training is provided.
