Shade Tree Commission

The Summit Hill Shade Tree Commission will be conducting its annual Arbor Day ceremony and tree plantings on Saturday, April 27 at 9 a.m. The ceremony and memorial plantings will be held in Memorial Park near the post office.

Anyone interested in sponsoring a tree to be planted in memory or in honor of someone may call John Kupec at (570) 645-9644 or Lou Vermillion at 645-9772 for information.

Trees will be ordered in mid-April. Volunteers to help plant and clean up are always welcome as well as any contributions to the Shade Tree Commission's efforts.

History of St. Luke's

The Summit Hill Historical Society will host a presentation on "The History of St. Luke's Hospital in Coaldale" on Wednesday, April 17 at 7 p.m. at the Summit Hill Heritage Center, 1 West Hazard St. The presenter is Joseph Tocci of the Radiology Department and will include many photos.

Lions Club

The Coaldale Lions Club will meet at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, and Tuesday, April 30 at the Viennese Villa in town. President Robert E. Ames will preside. All members are encouraged to attend, and new members are always welcome.
