Essay contest winner

Wyatt Trantham, a senior at Marian Catholic High School and the son of Elizabeth Trantham of Slatington, was recently honored by the Knights of Columbus as the first-place winner for "The Importance of Religious Freedom in America" essay contest.

The award was presented following the weekly Mass at the school.

His future plans include enlisting in the United States Navy and pursuing a career in nuclear engineering.
