Crime tips
The Tamaqua Safety Initiative will host a landlord/property management training session twice on May 30. Times will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Tamaqua Community Art Center, 125 Pine St.
"Big Time Crime: A Strategy for Small Cities and Towns" will be presented through the generosity of LISC Local Initiatives Support Corporation, which is dedicated to helping neighbors build communities.
Featured speaker will be Timothy Vance of Housing Crimes Consultants, Inc. Additional information and materials will be provided by the Schuylkill County District Attorney's Office, St. Luke's Rural Health Clinics and the Marchalk law firm.

Older and Bolder
The Salvation Army's Older and Bolder group meets every Wednesday at the Salvation Army, 105 W. Broad St. Meetings include a light luncheon.

Zion Lewistown
The Rev. Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. combined Memorial Day worship service this Sunday. The service will be held at Calvary Evangelical Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley. A covered dish dinner will be held in Zions social hall following the service
Confirmation has been scheduled for June 2.
Bethany EC
The Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 8 a.m. traditional service this Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Rev. Roberts will also officiate at a contemporary service at 10:30 a.m., at the Tamaqua YMCA. Sunday school classes will meet at 9:15 a.m. at the church.
Also on Sunday, the membership class will meet at 9:15 a.m.; the care and connection commission will meet at 12:30 p.m. and the operations commission will meet at 12:30 p.m.
Activities for next week will include: Wednesday, Tamaqua Youth Ministry meets at 6:30 p.m.; Saturday, musician practice at 8:30 a.m., praise rehearsal at 9:30 a.m.
The National Conference will be held next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
SS. Peter and Paul
Memorial Day Mass will be celebrated at 8 a.m. this Monday in SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Services will be held at 10 a.m. in the parish cemetery.
June 1 will be a Fatima Saturday. Confessions will be heard at 7:30 a.m., followed by a Recitation of the Rosary and Devotions before the 8 a.m. Mass.
Members of the parish Holy Rosary Society will attend the 8 a.m. Mass on June 2 and receive Holy Communion as a group. A rosary will be said before the Mass.
A Baccalaureate Mass will be celebrated at 8 a.m. on June 9. Graduates are asked to bring their caps and gowns and meet in the social hall prior to Mass. Coffee and doughnuts will be served following the service.
St. John Lutheran
The Rev. Phyllis Wolford will officiate at the 9:15 a.m. worship service this Holy Trinity Sunday in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. The service will include Holy Communion and graduate recognition.
